Global Air Cylinder Wheels®️ Incorporated (GACW) is an engineering company out of Phoenix, Arizona. The company has been developing the Air Suspension Wheel for OTR mining vehicles since 2011.
GACW has teamed up with experts in the field of suspension, steel manufacturing, and treads and relies on over 200 years of combined engineering experience.
GACW founder Dr. Zoltan Kemeny, a multidisciplinary engineer and inventor with over 260 patents in his name, witnessed a tire dump fire 10 years ago and was astounded by the amount of thick black smoke it generated. After more research he discovered that rubber microparticles produced by wear and tear of rubber tires are a far greater pollutant. According to National Geographic rubber micro particles account for as much as 28% of overall microplastic waste in the oceans.
Dr. Kemeny designed an all steel mechanical wheel, which can be fitted with biodegradable threads and is 100% recyclable after its useful life. He named it the Air Suspension Wheel. The ASW is eco-friendly, stronger, safer and more cost-efficient than rubber tires. It also reduces the rolling resistance, consequently reducing emissions of combustion engine vehicles or extending the range of electric vehicles.
The first concept of the Air Suspension Wheels were tested at a gold mine site in South Africa in 2015. Since 2016, the ASW underwent multiple rounds of field testing at mining sites of different mining companies in the South Africa, USA, and Chile and with progressively positive results.
The ASW technology has no direct competitors and a strong patent portfolio with 37 patents granted and over 50 patents pending.
